Hmm, yes and no. The volunteers I referred to as trouble, were mostly
for other projects. Most notably, the K-list which already has downloadable
templates, and pages instructing potential new volunteers, as you suggest.
The K-list was mostly where people would offer to help but really only
wanted attention. Too many stories, one example:
Every year I ask for volunteers to update the K-gateway's many pages of
links, delete the deadwood and find new ones, but nobody ever really did
the job like Percyval... and he retired from it when his health got worse.
some did a page or two then disappeared, some deleted the "file has
moved" links instead of updating them, or did not run the test a few hours
apart and deleted important links that were not dead, had only busy, timed
out. A few times I had to trash what I got back, and replace the file from
my archives because the code had been messed up so much.
FST has been a one woman show except at the very beginning, my Tribe
were great, helped me with the link finding, Percyval transcribed all the
videos, and Jasper wrote a guest essay for the sacred sexuality lesson,
that I will probably delete this time because it never did make much
sense... but I was glad of their support!
That is maybe why I am sorta gushing with too much information
sometimes. I haven't had anybody interested in hearing about my work on the
course in this way, before.
Having people... experienced web designers!!! actually interested!! in
the nuts and bolts of the FST site!!!, the history!! and how! it came to
be! as it is!!!, is really!! new!! and thrilling!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am experimenting putting my assorted ramblings into new posts and
threads...
