[Helpers] K-list archived digests & the FST links...

I tried for years to find someone, some way to put up the K-list
archives as a few big database text files + a program that would search
the database and spit out an html page containing many emails with that
keyword, or an author and date range. Even my druid took a whack at it.
In the end I had to give up, it seemed the only way to get the archives
back online was to convert it to tens of thousands of individual html files.
Fortunately, I found a program which does that automatically, but I
still have to tweak it a lot after, spam proof all the email addresses, and
convert the humungous years index into monthly index files by hand. Hillary
helped with that part, last time.
I also usually spend some time doing a search and delete of hotmail
spam sigs, unsnipped digests, and other useless junk. Much easier since we
got off yahoo.
I could skip that part, but I'd rather take the time to do it, than have
my site spamming for hotmail, google, msn, etc..
on a related note... Richard has finally solved part of an ongoing
problem with the years of digests, and converted them all back to
individual emails. Yay Richard!!
So now there is a thing of me doing what is usually an annual job, ...
that I hate... that I already did once this year!! Fuck!
Ya know, the only reason I left the K-list down between X-mas and new
years, was so I could call the year over and get the archive-making over
with... before creating the new kundalist. That job, Again, but this time
it is converting for several years of old digest posts.
waah. I know we need it to simplify the FST links job but I am very
resistant. I just don't want to do that job again! I'd rather barf slugs.
Can someone else do it if I send you the program, and the templates? The
program is mailbag, it is commercial now but I have an old version that was
freeware and I will upload the zip of it, and the mbx files to the helpers
FTP.
I know this is a K-list thing not a FST thing, directly... but linking
to pages that are digests is just not workable, and a waste of time if soon
there will not be archive digests any more...
Sorry if I am babbling, ...
