hi Mystress,

you may already know this, but on Inertnet Explorer
v.6/Tools/Options/Security, you can choose to hit the custom level button,
and get very specific about your ActiveX security choices...

start with the setting on "Medium"... then, you change:
    "Download signed ActiveX controls" to "Prompt"...
and then:
   "Binary and script behaviors",
   "Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins" and
   "Script ActiveX controls marked safe for for scripting"
to either "Enable" (or "Prompt" for the safest choice)...

leave the other ActiveX choices on "Disable"...

this should give you a better balance between security and ActiveX than
keeping the security setting on "Low"...

btw: if all Msft security patches have been installed, these should be the
default settings at "Medium" for IE v.6... so i do think that most folks 
have their ActiveX turned on...
