The Power of Empathy - Done! Karmic Law (Mostly done, some glitches in sound, gonna see what can be done about it) Entities (Not done, got some frame skipping) Testing Your Guides (Not done, got some frame skipping) Void of Nirvana (Not done, got some frame skipping) I will upload previews of the finished videos soon! Thank you. Last night I was investigating the problem. I put on one of the DVDs at random, I did not notice the sound out of sync but I could see what you mean by frame skipping. So I grabbed a tape at random... tape 8 and capturing it from druid's DV camera, via windows media on the new computer...(high quality video NTSC) and it cpatured fine but there was still frame skipping. So the problem is that the DV tape is degraded. I have a VHS set of copies of the tapes that were made when the digital video was newer. I am wondering if the VHS tapes have the same problems, or other problems... I know it is not supposed to be as good as the digital tape but maybe the larger magnetic tape VHS has not degraded as quickly? At least being analog, maybe the sound is not out of sync? Not crazy about the idea of redoing all the DVDs from VHS... but if it will help get better video quality, then I will do it. Maybe just the ones that turned out worst? I don't mind a bit of frame skipping for the internet versions, but it looks bad on the TV. The other option is to see what of the workshop videos can be used. I taught many of the same things in the workshop, as the course. I have not looked at any of the workshop content yet. I plan to experiment with it today. BTW: windows movie maker offers quite a variety of formats and I do not know which is best. So the problem is that the DV tape is degraded. The sync problem comes when the videos are imported into an editor (like Vegas) The video editor tends to simply drop the frames that are skipping, causing a sync problem.. Which in mild cases is easy to remedy by shifting the audio manually at every point it happens > I have a VHS set of copies of the tapes that were made when the digital >video was newer. I guess the question is, whether the frame skipping is a problem of degradation, or is it how the camera originally recorded the content? Maybe the camera was crapping out? I dunno. VHS degradation makes a bit of static and snow but it doesn't skip like this. I have to look at the VHS and see if there are skips. > > Not crazy about the idea of redoing all the DVDs from VHS... but if >it > >will help get better video quality, then I will do it. Cool. Thanks. >It's quite possible we can use workshop videos as well. Not >sure how the picture and sound quality are on them, but we can >definitely give them a shot. Yeah, I have more interest in capturing the new content from the workshops than in re-dubbing the FST VHS, so I am happy to wait with it, until we know what vids haven't made the grade. I am getting curious to see what is in the Europe vids. > > I don't mind a bit of frame skipping for the internet versions, but >it > >looks bad on the TV. > >It does look bad, at least for those where it happens a lot. The idea >though is to use the same videos for internet as for the DVD, but with >different quality settings. Yes. I need a good quality archival version of the videos that can be converted to other media as need arises, now and in years to come. Five years from now, we will probably be converting the videos again... today's format will look just as dated as the current realplayer files look now. > > The other option is to see what of the workshop videos can be used. >I > >taught many of the same things in the workshop, as the course. For what we have been talking about... putting bits of Europe workshops online and maybe on DVD if they rock. The Holland workshops are DVD already but the others are a bag of DV tapes and I need to know what is the best capture format. I also need to know what size mason jars Kimberly wants me to ship to her... KISS principle. I actually got it sorted... iexplore doesn't resize px and other browsers do. I can work around it. Right now I am wanting to know why firefox insists on pushing the "Fire serpent tantra" gif away from the logo. It centers it. It must be reading the table code differently. > > >Some small notes in red below& > > > >328e7c5.jpg > > > > > >328e823.jpg > > Most of the rest of this, we already worked through last May... that is why I responded via Sachiko's post on the topic. We already researched universal fonts, in choosing palantino. I want the body text, experiences etc... the main part of the lesson res-izeable across browsers for the sake of visually handicapped members. Maybe I will switch back to pt for the title and navlinks.
